{"id":49,"date":"2006-05-22T05:43:38","date_gmt":"2006-05-22T05:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebizz.wordpress.com\/2006\/05\/22\/how-to-make-the-best-of-a-business-trip\/"},"modified":"2006-05-22T05:43:38","modified_gmt":"2006-05-22T05:43:38","slug":"how-to-make-the-best-of-a-business-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chris-salazar.com\/blog\/how-to-make-the-best-of-a-business-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Make The Best out of a Business Trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"20\" align=\"left\" width=\"207\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img91.imageshack.us\/img91\/8804\/tbtposterfinal1mediumcopy9ed.jpg?resize=207%2C277\" hspace=\"20\" height=\"277\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>As an intern, I did not expect to ever go on a business trip, so when I first heard about the opportunity I was excited.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yet, the excitement was soon overcome by nervousness.&nbsp; <em>What was I going to do?&nbsp; How would I act?&nbsp; What would I say?<\/em>&nbsp; I will no longer be in my comfort zone, instead I will be far away at another company working.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I look back at the experience, I am very thankful not just for the opportunity but for everything that I learned.&nbsp; Every new intern and new hire will experience the same feelings I did, but my goal here is to help that person make the best out of the trip.<\/p>\n<h3>How To Make The Best out&nbsp;of a Business Trip:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Do the most you can to prepare before hand<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>It is very important to know what is going on, even if your role is small<\/li>\n<li>Prepare like you are the one presenting just in case you are needed&#8230;you never know<\/li>\n<li>Ask questions before the trip so you are well prepared<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Listen and Observe<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay attention to what is going on, do not wonder off b\/c one day that will be you<\/li>\n<li>Take good notes to reflect on after the meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Participate<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Even if you have a small role, the experience of presenting is important<\/li>\n<li>Ask questions when needed so you can understand what is going on<\/li>\n<li>Show others that you are part of the conversation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Act as if you are the one presenting<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>When questions are asked, answer them to yourself, and compare your answers to what is actually said<\/li>\n<li>Learn&nbsp;what the best way is to answer&nbsp;questions, even if you do not know the answer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Reflection<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Reflect by yourself or with your partner about the meeting and the outcome<\/li>\n<li>Ask the following questions:\n<ul>\n<li>&quot;What were the concerns from the meeting?&quot;<\/li>\n<li>&quot;What are the key points from the meeting?&quot;<\/li>\n<li>&quot;What needs more work?&quot;<\/li>\n<li>&quot;What are the next steps?&quot;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>&quot;Was the meeting a success? Why or why not?&quot;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Get to work!<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the new knowledge from the meeting and add value to the project<\/li>\n<li>Contribute and start preparing now for the next meeting<\/li>\n<li>Keep in contact with the other company\/partners, show the progress, and ask for their input<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My business experience was a complete success as I learned important lessons that will help me contribute even more next time.&nbsp; This is important, especially as an intern, since I will soon graduate and work full time&nbsp;in the corporate world.&nbsp; I am thankful for this opportunity as an intern, and I look forward to future opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>I would love to hear your experiences as well.&nbsp;
